Hopetoun House

We are ending today with a delightful event at Hopetoun House. Searching for some inspiration our client found this wedding we designed a few years ago. Our blog serves us so well - as inspiration to our new clients but also to remind us what we have done in the past, making sure we are always moving forward, taking previous designs and changing them each time to make sure they are in line with the clients style. We took this design and gave it a spring twist - using hyacinths, paper whites, tulips and snow drops in each table design. We were totally smitten with the final design in the Tiger Room. Using a collection of plinths decked with mirrors we arranged collections of vases, candles, bud vases - some with a little moss and leaf detail.

Just such a lovely clean fresh look - working perfectly with the table design.

  

  

Little Miss Wedding

Today we have been featured on Little Miss Wedding blog - a sweet little feature of buttonholes inspiration. Buttonholes have came a long long way - no longer does the groom have to wear a white carnation, the bestman a pink carnation and the ushers and guests wear red carnations! We try to make sure our grooms and their immediate bridal party wear a buttonhole of the same style as the rest of the wedding flowers. Happy Valentine's Day

Today Niels and Alie over at Blue Sky have launched their first Blue Sky Photography challenge using their heart shaped cookie cutters - so apt for today! We were so excited when we heard their idea and couldn’t wait to have a go!

The Independent

We had a crazy busy week last week. Three lovely weddings and several large events plus the love fest of Valentines Day on Monday. By Saturday, with our fifth 5am start in a row - we will be honest, we were all feeling a little frayed around the edges! It didn't last long.. especially when we found out we were featured in The Independents guide to the UK's "50 Best Florists".

Seriously amazing - we could not believe it! As we specialise in event and wedding floristry and don't have a "front shop" it really isn't often we are even considered for such a prestigious list! The response we had from Twitter and Facebook once the list was announced was so special - we are still astonished at all the support we have!

The Independent used a screen grab of a wedding we installed all the way back in 2007 - there are some weddings that push the boundaries for us as florists, and the whole team agree that this wedding was one of those. Since the Independent used it, we thought we would show you a few sneak peaks of this wedding as it is completely worthy of a Planet Flowers blog post!

  

National Museum of Scotland

White ceramics, green tiles, glass test tubes, grey table plinths and that's before we get to the flowers on this little event themed with spring flowers. The Board and Bute room space at the National Museum of Scotland is a favourite of ours, such a blank canvas which can take any design and look amazing.

   

  

   

Our favourite part of this event? The succulent touches - beautiful. The texture of the succulents against the softness of the narcissus and hyacinths was just lush!

Upstairs in the Board room we wanted to create a central piece for the drinks reception that guests could walk round and find lots of interesting details. We used tall test tube vases, filling them with single varieties of spring flowers with lots of unique textures. We then laid two branches which we painted and hung small vials of paper white through out to bring details to the base of the table.

 

Dundas Castle - 1000th Wedding

Back in December we designed the wedding flowers for Kate and Simon at Dundas Castle. Such a special day not only for the gorgeous couple but it was also Dundas Castles 1000th wedding!

So many of our supplier friends were involved in the big day with Reel Time Events, 21cc Fireworks and Elemental Photography they had a great team for a great day - even with all the crazy snow! It may have been severely cold outside but with all the rich colours, velvety reds and deep purples alongside all the glowing fairy lights the pavilion looked warm and magical.

Hopetoun House

Today we needed to cheer ourselves up a little – especially after all this miserable weather! So what better way than to show you the BRILLIANT photography by Blue Sky of Kiren and Sandeep’s magnificently colourful wedding at Hopetoun House last summer. Seriously one look at these elephants and our moods are lifted instantly.

We framed the top table with two large elephants and then created a back drop for the bride and groom with flower garlands.
