Mansfield Traquair - Part Two

We have been showing you bits and pieces of this wedding for some time now on Twitter, Facebook and more recently our Planet Flowers blog! There were just so many killer details with this wedding. It was stylish, authentic, glamorous, unique, stunning, modern, elegant, beautiful, flawless and memorable – to be honest we have ran out of adjectives to describe it! While Jackie and Alan from Rankine Photography were busy taking shots of the ceremony, Niels from Blue Sky Photography popped by to take detailed shots of the flowers just for us (how spoilt are we?!) We must apologise now for the length of this post. It was just too difficult to choose which images to use!

Let's start at the drinks reception. Jane decided to use an escort table rather than a table plan - so to enhance the feature we designed a flower chandelier to hang above the table to add a bit of glamour to the marquee. We used hundreds of crystals throughout the hanging orchids to catch the light and add a bit of twinkle!

It was important to keep the floral décor in the drinks reception clean and simple. We wanted to have an amazing "wow" factor in the main reception area, so everything was kept minimal in the drinks marquee.

As Niel's from Blue Sky Photography captured images hours before the couple arrived, some aspects of the set-up were not quite finished - for example the lighting. This was great for us looking back through his photographs as it reminds us how important lighting is! Once all the candles are lit and the team at Tower Productions have worked their magic, the room comes to life - bringing warmth and a real ambience to the room.

Hydrangea rings, Orchid napkin décor with crystal detail and candles all finished the guest tables perfectly. Everything was accessorised beautifully by the gorgeous stationary from Knotty Stationary. The candy station was amazing, Knotty Stationary did a fabulous job of giving all the sweets and treats quirky names - it was so adorable!

We hope you enjoyed seeing the highlights of this wedding. We would like to give a huge shout out to Niels and Alie from Blue Sky Photography for capturing all these little pieces of perfection especially for us! You guys blew us away with your kindness and of course talent - Thank you so much! Jane and Des sent us the sweetest note of thanks shortly after the wedding.

"We are back! Just wanted to drop you a wee mail to say hello! ...and also to thank you so so soooo much again for all of your help with everything in the run up to the wedding. I really appreciated it and you honestly made the planning very fun and exciting. The flowers were totally out of this world, Des and I were both completely and utterly blown away with how the place looked. It was honestly like a fairytale dream and was exactly how I had pictured it in my head! Your attention to detail was incredible from the crystal in the flower girls wand which matched the place settings, to matching the colour of the bridesmaids pomanders to their dresses, the diamond in my bouquet to match my dress. Everything was just incredible and quite breathtaking! I couldn't get over how amazing the church looked when I first walked in.. just beautiful. So many people have said to me how fantastic the flowers were, you really did such a good job, I just don't know how you do it! One of the guests asked me later on in the night if there was any candles left in the whole of Edinburgh, which made me laugh!! Des and I enjoyed every single second of the day, it was so so so much fun.. it all seemed to whiz by in a flash! Please pass on our thanks and appreciation to all of the team."

Mansfield Traquair - Part One

Back in October we had the pleasure of designing for Jane and Des's wedding! The wedding was held at Mansfield Traquair - undoubtedly one of Edinburgh's most unique venues. We knew we were going to be involved in designing something amazing but this wedding was incredible! We have been dying to show you this wedding; every single detail shines from the magnificent stationary designed by Knotty Stationary to the unbelievable lighting created by Tower Productions. The result of the hard work from so many different suppliers and pulled together by the expert team at Heritage Portfolio was total perfection. We have been pouring over these images for months now, yet we still see something different in them every time we look! This will be a two part blog feature as there are just so many details we are not sure you could take them all in at once!

Jane was very open to suggestions; it was so much fun planning everything with her! She opted for compact rose pomanders for her bridesmaids, such a great alternative to a hand tied for bridesmaids to hold. The details were very important to Jane. Her all Ranunculus bouquet was finished off with trails of Stephanotis covered with satin, pearls and crystals which sat perfectly against her dress.

As the guest tables had a lot of detail we kept all the other flowers around Mansfield Traquair simple and chic. The cheese table set by Heritage Portfolio was a cheese lover’s heaven!

The three long mirrored tables once fully decorated were absolutely breathtaking. Once we had hung all 400 orchid garlands, the lighting was on and the candles were lit there was not much else we could do but stand back and take it all in! We are extremely privileged here at Planet Flowers - we see some of the most amazing weddings and events in Scotland but this just knocked our socks off! We must say such a huge thank you to Jackie and Alan of Rankine Photography for letting us show you their flawless shots of such a perfect wedding! Please check back later for the second post of some up close details of this amazing wedding....

We hope you all had a fabulous New Year celebration, we sure did, and we also really enjoyed a little bit of rest between a few festive weddings that we will blog about later! But now, we are back in the saddle and looking forward to a beautiful, creative, fulfilling, balanced 2010 with even more growth for Planet Flowers!
